FEARLESSNESS!!

Boy, our lorikeets are getting game! Yesterday morning, we had two birds feeding on their normal morning treat of bread and honey, and a third one came, but the other two chased him away. He then spotted Phil's breakfast, and thought, maybe he might let me share!

This got me thinking!!

Firstly, I was reminded about God's mercies being new every morning. Every morning we see something new with these birds. Since the first visit in August this year, they have gradually become tamer, and have become more and more of a delight. And now they will eat from our hands!! It's so amazing!! (I think "amazing" is my favourite word these days! :-) )

"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul, 'therefore I hope in Him!'" (Lam. 3:22-24, NKJ)

Secondly, with our birds having become so fearless, reminds me of our relationship with God. If we love Him, we do not need to be afraid of Him. We do not need to fear punishment, but we can come boldly to Him, as His children, and receive from Him. We can bring our requests to Him without fear. We can also be with Him and enjoy His presence, free of fear!!... and just be His kids!

"God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like Him. THERE IS NO FEAR IN LOVE. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
"We love because He first loved us." (1 John 4:16b-19, NIV)
